MEET THE TRAINERS
Alison is an experienced mathematics adviser who has worked for a variety of organisations. Alison is passionate about ensuring that all adults and children love mathematics, and this is one of the reasons that one of her favourite numbers is 13, which is a happy number as well as a prime number!
I am currently in my 16th year as a Head of Mathematics in Suffolk. I have a keen interest in metacognition and ed-tech. I have 2000 screencasts of solutions to maths problems (including both GCSE and A level) on my YouTube channel. My favourite number is the fraction 80/81; if you convert it to a decimal you will know why it's my favourite. Follow me on Twitter @dawsonmaths.
I am a Maths teacher at Farlingaye and course organiser for TSST 2017-18. I have a deep interest in how we teach mathematics to young people and helping non-specialists access specialist Maths support.
I opted for a career change 11 years ago and haven't looked back! I love teaching and am passionate about improving the learning of pupils. I continually reflect on ways to improve my practice and still challenge myself to try something new every year. Within my own school I have the pleasure of being the Maths Teaching and Learning Lead for Years 7 to 9, I am also a Specialist Leader of Education which allows me to share good practise with other schools.
I am Head of Maths of Wymondham College and I launched TSST Maths in Norfolk in 2015. I am passionate about helping those non-specialists who teach maths in Norfolk and yet have traditionally received little in the way of support.
